Today some one was asking about how to price art.

Although there are many ways to do this, and many artist have different methods

From my experiences I find there are several things that are key elements to consider

Material.

This is straight forward, in general this is exactly what something cost times two.

( normal used for traditional work or material goods )

example

Canvas 10 dollars, 5 dollars for paint , 2 dollars for brushes , and maybe about 5-10 dollars for miscellaneous cost that you may not think about

so say you agree that the final cost is 27 dollars, simply multiply that by 2 to get the final cost for the product.

Final cost for painting 54 dollars

Time.

This may be one of the harder ways to charge for your work

the key is self evaluation, or perhaps the advice of some one that you have a great deal of trust with.

Ill base this example on my self.

There is a wide range and even for me this can be tricky to explain

ill estimate that a drawing takes me about 1 hr to do ( base on this assumption ill come up with the rest of my cost starting from the base cost )

1 hr drawing ( base cost ) will never be cheaper then 15 dollars

( so I agreed to work at 15 dollars an hr )

if I take more time to do the work then agreed to eat the cost and maintain the cost of 15 dollars

( unless the work was more difficult then I assessed it to be , which is a skill that you need to have if you want to charge for your work ) in general there seems to be a market price for art work and speed and skill level that you constantly need to consider. ( note I am making this stand out more because of a recent question on stream )

Experience

different artist can charge different amounts , in my example I agree to work at 15 dollars an hr

in my opinion this is the lowest rate a artist should work at ( unless the work is easier )

it is important to know the kind of work your doing, in my example I am evaluating a drawing

different levels of experience

Beginner/ apprenticethis is some one with 1-4 years of experience equivalent to ap/gt art class in high school 15 dollars an hr some one at this level will add the cost of material and add that to the 15 dollars an hr. so basically cost is paid for and you get a agreed pay of 15 dollars an hr

( note the evaluation of per her changes a bit from artist to artist however there are some basic standards to go by and researching others art will help you get a general idea of cost if they are the same approximate skill level )

intermediate

although there is overlap this is general some one who has work, part time, full time in some way and has been paid as a artist or artistic field.

With new interest, and media the word of art carriers has change dramatically since when I started out.

So this includes any one who is a content creater, on Instagram, you tube , twitch , peatreon ….

that is earning some income from the art they are doing.

In general it is a artist job to challenge society, working as a self employed artist is now more possible because of media and technology, competition and market play a bigger role along with target audience and understanding every aspect of how to make it as a entrepreneur

in the past many artist were found because of comics, news papers and other media, so media and society drives how art function and how artist can use that information in order to achieve their goals ( and to a point this is a duel relationship because the artist effect the media )

making change is the challenge of a artist, creating a new way the view the world is the dream.

method

style

and probably most of all business

Its been a long time scene my last journal, and it also seams like i have more or less forgotten about deviant art when it comes to posting my art, i will not be posting every thing that i have forgotten about but ill be posting new stuff from now on.
I like to draw from life and from photos, if i can find something stock of reference i like to be brave and ask people if i can use there photos, i actually do this allot. ( i thank you for any photographer model that has let me do this, it truly helps in my artistic vision, i have also recently asked for permission for commercial use. ) I am trying to establish an art job for my self, and currently have little funds to do so, any and all help is appreciated and will be properly credited as always.
( if i use your work, you can use mine that how i work, if you want to post my drawing of your work please and thank you, it only helps people know who i am)
( the only photography i use is body painting, so is a finished work of art already so there for i give no one permission to use any photography that i have on here , if i took regular nude works i would be more then happy to let people draw from them , but as i said all photos are taken for the purpose of showing of the body painting , so in a way its a painting not a photo, if you would like to use a pose as a reference message me and ill think about it, in general as long as my body painting is not recognizable and the model is not recognizable i am ok with it, i acutely need to ask the model for each photos , i know one model who would be more then happy to see more drawing of her )  Critiquing: i am not a photography first and foremost so just keep that in mind if critiquing any photos i have taken, if you wish to critique my multimedia skills ( re touching , photo shop , then by all means ) Finally i would like to ask any one who wishes to have a picture drawn of them feel free to message me i would be happy to do so cost free as i am starting up my new "job"

worst food ever

3 min read
My mom and I where out celebrating  my mom's birthday. So we decided to go to the Waterfront hotel. A place we have not been in many years, remembering how good it USE TO BE. After today I would never return there again. We ordered our food, after trying my first dish I had to  return my order.

My food was horribly and  did not meet any expectation, that even simply eating at a hole in the wall dive could fill. So I did the logical thing, and I returned the food to then try something different. Yet again, to my surprise, the food was disgusting; to the point that I felt ill shortly after eating such food.

Informing the bartender about my discomfort I simply wanted to get my money back and not try to order another possibly failed entree. Now I get verbally assaulted by this bar tender, who is overly aggressive; to prove the point that the food was edible, WITCH IT WAS MOST DEFINETLEY NOT.

She explained that I would not get my returned money because, I had already paid for the food and it was fine. I instanced that I should get my money back  witch she then, she angrily accepted  in a ill professional manner.

After a hour of playing pool, an assumed employee had come aggressively advancing towards me. He was threatening that I need to leave the bar, he was extremely rude, he had got in my face and then stared to push me and hit me,

several times, to get me to go out of the building. I was some what confused at this point, not knowing what I could of done to deserve such a anger reaction, several other people had left the bar due to how rude and lowed this man was.

I was confused because My mom and I where simply playing pool and trying to enjoy my mothers birthday. I was also confused because they where trying to say they have the right to refused serves to any one, but at any time while we where in there no one stopped us from buying a drink, so what refused service was there.

We simply try to rationalize with this man we where not able to do so and I guess the costumer is always rough at water front hotel so please be advised, I would never eat there again.
